My writer’s block had been on and off. And quite honestly, it’s annoying to say the least. However, I finally started putting together a weekly “to-do list” for writing on here, and let me tell you––things are starting to look great already!

Anyway! Jumping to the topic. I get asked this question a lot––the perfect ways to wear midi dresses. Now, I love midi dresses and wish to incorporate more of them into my wardrobe. So I’m putting together things that help us petites wear this style like the queens that we are!

Find the right “fitted-to-flowy” ratio:

As a petite, you don’t want to drown in your clothes. But there’s a beauty in flowy midi dresses. Find dresses that are fitted up top, to accentuate the upper body and show off your silhouette.

Pairing the right footwear:

For us petites, our legs play a huge part in completing the look. When you have a midi dress on, that covers a good chunk of your lower body, it’s nice to highlight whatever skin is left to show. Opt for nude heels or colors within the skin’s color palette. If heels aren’t your thing, go for sandals that have a little (1-2″) heel to them, or even some pointed-toe mules.

Monotone and neutrals:

Neutrals are a petite girl’s best friend. Wearing neutrals and/or colors that compliment rather than contrast makes the outfit one big picture––rather than focusing individually on the pieces or the dominating color.

Elongate, don’t divide the waist

Remember: work with your body. A division at waist will make your torso look shorter and as petites, that’s something we prefer staying away from.

Neckline or sleeves to highlight

Kind of similar to the idea of elongating the legs, finding areas to show skin or accentuate in order to not look like you’re drowning in fabric–makes the overall look so perfect!
