Life as a Blogger: When to Draw the Line

They say an average person spends more than 53 minutes a day on Instagram! I’m not surprised, and quite honestly, believe the average amount increases everyday. Then comes the culture of ‘Instabloggers’ or ‘Instafamous’ people. If you’re not one of them, chances are you’ve thought, or will think, about being one at some point in life. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that (I mean look at me, I’m part of it).

It hits me every time I’m out doing something fun with loved ones. Be it a fun trip or simply brunch, it’s really not fun when one person feels then need to take a picture of every single thing. I’m not saying I do not do the same, but blogging for more than a year- I’ve picked up some important pointers to remember when finding a balance between spotless Instagram and having an amazing time.

Points on finding the balance:

  1. Organize. Plan out your day. That’s my top suggestion as a blogger. Having a schedule is crucial. When I go on a trip, for instance, I like to block off a few hours to shoot/work on my content. Once I’m done, I go back to my company and enjoy the day.
  2. Don’t forget to stop and think how the experience makes you feel. If you don’t have a feeling, chances are you’re not experiencing it well enough. You won’t find me horseback riding, or hiking up a mountain clipping pics away. Of course if its absolutely beautiful, snap a picture or two. But don’t stress about it. You’ll be annoying to yourself and those around you. Trust me, I’ve been there!
  3. Be empathetic. There’s people around you. While we are free to do what we want when we want – would you really enjoy it if your are hoping to spend quality with your friend, but your friend is way too busy documenting it for everyone else online. Stop and appreciate your real friends, the online community can wait (to be honest they love genuine, not curated anyway!)

  1. So relatable! Just had one of these moments yesterday at the beach. It’s honestly so nice to take a second to live in the moment instead of worrying about capturing it. Thanks for sharing, babe!
