Can We Dodge These Common Petite Problems?

Before I start, no we’re not just talking about finding the perfect pants (although that’s a huge factor)! As petites, we face dilemmas that may not be common to some, if not most.

Wearing clothes head to toe can be challenging: You never want to look like you’re drowning in clothes.

Sleeves: There’s always the concept of sleeves being too long. The amount of times I had to retake a photo because my fingers weren’t visible is, well– higher than usual. And then comes the tucking of sleeves––which is also an extreme sport.

Automatically looking intimidated: There’s an auto perception people carry on short women––that we come off as shy or intimidated. The may have something to do about just how we tend to (physically) look ‘up’ to people. instead of straight or down.

Being curvy and petite–well! Let’s say we don’t get taken into account as much: While retailers have come a long way, there’s still a disparity between the “ideal” petite and the “normal” petite. When thinking of a petite woman, it’s common to only think about women who are less on the curvy side. So yes, that why many of us size up just to accommodate to the bust and hips that get ignored often times.

Posture is key! You can slouch–but be careful! slouching takes off height and the look of confidence, both of which are priced possessions.

Wearing heels: It’s second nature to petites. While there’s more casual footwear making it to the scene, a short woman who can’t work the heels is, well..interesting!

To get to the point (yes I just realized going off on a tangent!)–– it’s definitely far more challenging for petites to pull off outfits, certain looks than their taller counterparts. BUT, in this day and age (as cliché as this sounds), nothing should stop us. The key is to really hone in on the little details:

How’s my posture looking?

How good do I feel wearing this outfit

If it’s big on me, can I still make it look cool? I mean “you are what you wear!”

Am I happy with how I look? This is the most important part!

Am I wearing clothes that flatter my body type the most?
